The battle between Jiiva and Sibiraj could have been a little more intense. When you expect a serious battle between the lead and the antagonist, you are offered with a comedy sequence. Pokkiri Raja manages to mildly engage you throughout because of its unpredictable narrative pattern. Searching for logic here might waste your time. The lone purpose of making this film is to engross the audience with no holds barred entertainment.
It might not manage to break the theatre into laughter but the comedy portion is tolerable, thanks to Yogi Babu who plays Jiiva’s ally. Hansika travels throughout the film and she has a solid role to play. One feels more of his powerful negative shades and less of humor could have worked better. Easily one of his best outings till date, he looks confident on screen. Sibiraj gets to play what his father (Sathyaraj) is best at - playing a sarcastic humorous villain. Roles like these aren’t new for Jiiva and he has brought his experience into place adequately.
